NEW CIVIC MENTOR BLOG!! ============= PITTSBURG POLICE SERVICES

CIVIC MENTOR INSTRUCTION
INTRODUCING A NEW PUBLIC SERVICE

THIS NEW BLOG WILL BECOME ESPECIALLY CRITICAL when it's time to integrate it with the highly-detailed CIVIC MENTOR / Neighborhood Management System-Model (NMS) -- attached as an inherent part of the Neighborhood Security System -- whose mission is to assist all residents -- with their individual and collective survival needs -- wherever reasonable -- on the principle "I watch out for you, you watch out for me."  This feeds -- the Neighborhood Watch Program (and others) -- with timely information -- and convenient connections -- to the powers that be -- and to others -- in or near the surrounding environment, locally and remotely.

1.  Purpose

I am privileged to announce the introduction of the FIRST of a new -- tightly-integrated collection of Civic Mentor system-components --  under development for the People and City of Pittsburg, CA.

For now, that component is an electronic bulletin board, similar to this main Civic Mentor board, which will try to eventually gather in one place and publicize all available civic information having to do with City Police Services and create another practical corridor which will facilitate the flow of public information within this crucial sector of public concern.

3 WAYS TO ACCESS

1.  http://civicmentorpolice94565.blogspot.com/  OR

2.  Civic Mentor / Pittsburg, CA / Police Services Bulletin Board  OR

3.  You can also click the menu-choice on the horizontal menu bar at the top of this MAIN Civic Mentor board.  And a "return-to-main-board" menu-option is provided in the menu bar at the top of the Police board.

    2.  Discussion

I am especially excited about being able to keep a promise I made to Chief Addington, last year, to try to figure out how to celebrate the 2013 Police Awards -- on a more enduring basis -- since our friends and neighbors deserve to know how well they are being served -- through all time -- but there wasn't a convenient way to do this -- till now.

So, you will find this well-deserved recognition of those Police Awards placed in prominent view on the new board.  I have also just finished transferring copies of many other relevant bulletins from this main Civic Mentor board -- which have accumulated here, over three years -- finally gathering them all into their own dedicated place.

I still have a way to go to gather them all up, because my cataloging-scheme is terribly haphazard, right now.  But, find and copy them I eventually shall.

    3.  That Which is on the Bulletin Board -- Right Now or Soon Will Be
    • The 2013 Awards Ceremony -- including my after-after report on the ceremony, a list of the officers and civilians who were honored -- linked to the separate citation-bulletins describing what their awards are for.  Also, is the departmental awards chart, so you can see what wearable decorations look like -- so you can recognize them when you see our officers wearing them.
    • Important Links to the Police Department (now) and any procedures they may wish to call to our attention (soon).
    • Disaster Readiness program for the territory.
    • National, State, and local commemorations honoring the people who provide this vital public service
    • Public days and weeks marked out to focus and enlighten the public mind on various relevant topics
    • Sources for crime statistics and reports and analyses
    • ... and more.

    4.  What Will Be There Over the Course of Time (unless system upgrades supersede this)
    • Thorough discussions of relevant civic self-mentoring concerns (both there and elsewhere) such as: Gangs, Bullies, Cyber-bullying, Domestic Violence, Anger Management, Child Abuse, Animal Abuse, Burglary, Robbery, Criminal and Lesser Assaults, Witnessing Skills, Neighborhood watch, Proper personal procedures vis-a-vis violent and non-violent crime, Formulation of common social strategies toward Crime Prevention, Mitigation and Elimination, and so on -- and I mean, ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING.
    • Information which will help us form and upgrade our most effective security strategies and procedures toward relevant self, family, household, neighborhood, city, county, regional, state, national, and international concerns -- in all sufficient detail and clarity -- at least from the "grass roots" point of view -- AND IN EFFECTIVE PARTNERSHIP with the governmental authorities.
    • IN OTHER WORDS, THE COMPLETE TOTALITY of ALL the significant aspects bearing on this vital area of human behavior and concern -- leaving out absolutely nothing important -- for, we rational beings need to be able to think EVERYTHING through -- as circumstances permit and require. (That's not to say that we need to ATTEND to everything, just that when things demand our attention, in ANY AREA, the information is conveniently near to hand -- and not completely unfamiliar, where possible)

    5.  It is my hope that this will become an increasingly practical tool:

... both for the public and for the Police Department.  This should give us another reliable place where we can be reasonably assured that whatever messages we need to exchange -- we will be able to do so with greater ease and certainty. (anything and everything to help the people who help us)

    6.  As always, please understand that everything I do

... for the next few years, is all a "work in progress," proceeding from "very-rough-to-hopefully-very-smooth-and-polished" phases, before too much time has elapsed.

But things are coming into sharper focus for me (and hopefully for you), by the minute and I feel so encouraged ("stoked," as they say).
