Posted:  8 Jun 14

1.  Purpose

Every day, our entire society and world are coming up with more and more ways to make the most of this magnificent Internet achievement.

This morning, I discovered -- DIGITALGOV.gov!

This bulletin brings yet another potent resource to your attention and gives you a quick peek at what it's all about.  By posting it, here, on the permanent "bulletin board," you will be less likely to overlook it -- over the coming days, weeks, and months -- whenever you need it.

A quick visit will tell you what you want to know.  The following excerpt was brought forward, merely to open this "treasure chest," in case your appetite needs whetting.

2.  An Excerpt from The "About" Page

"We live in a time when more pre-schoolers can use a smartphone app than can tie their shoes. How does government prepare to meet the information needs of these budding citizens? DigitalGov means providing information and services to the public anywhere and anytime.

This DigitalGov site is a platform to help those in agencies working on providing digital services and information for the public. We’ll scour the innerwebs for digital info so you don’t have to. Expect posts on what government is doing in digital, general digital news, trends and issues on implementing digital for the public."

3.  Tons of Additional Information at Your Fingertips

I have signed up for the free email updates.  I'll try to bring interesting messages to your attention, here, but to be sure not to miss anything, you might consider signing up, too.   That sign-up page also allows you to sign-up for even more email subscriptions:

False rumors about the end of the world in 2012 have been commonplace on the Internet for some time. Many of these rumors involve the Mayan calendar ending in 2012 (it won’t), a comet causing catastrophic effects (definitely not), a hidden planet sneaking up and colliding with us (no and no), and many others
The world will not end on December 21, 2012, or any day in 2012.
Unfortunately, these rumors have many people frightened, especially children. NASA has received thousands of letters concerned about the end of the world. David Morrison, a planetary astronomer and senior scientist for NASA who answers questions from the public about astrobiology, says, “At least a once a week I get a message from a young person ― as young as 11 ― who says they are ill and/or contemplating suicide because of the coming doomsday.”
 [THAT'S SAD AND SERIOUS]
According to NASA, the old mystery-planet-collision rumor year was 2003, but when 2004 arrived safely, the rumors changed to 2012. So what end-of-the-world year will the rumor mill make up next?

A CLOSER LOOK: The U.S. State Department

A TOOL FOR SEEING WHAT IS

As we all know, wisest action has to take account of the circumstances which affect our choices.  We have to anticipate, detect, and influence changes that might affect the favorable balancing of our life-experience.

We do this close to home, within our neighborhood surroundings, the adjacent City-Neighborhoods, the City as a whole, the County, the SF Bay economic region, the State, the Nation, the planet, and its ever larger surroundings, far beyond.  If we are reasonable (and have reasonable opportunities), we simply can't not do this -- it is human nature, in its most thoughtful aspect -- to keep an eye on developments that can improve or worsen things, and to remain ready to dance to whatever tune fate chooses to play.

On the global level, our State Department is a fabulous resource to help us manage our personal and collective situations within our dynamic world.

If knowledge is power, here is an "energy pellet" -- the U.S. State Department Website -- access to situational assessments for every nation on earth.
