Note: I know we are a far more complex nation than the Nordic countries (4 States vs 50). And, I'm not impressed by the apples-to-oranges comparison of military budgets (world leadership isn't cheap / others can spend less, because we spend MORE and have more to do) -- and I have a much higher opinion of politicians, as a class of fine citizens, doing among the toughest of jobs. In fact, some of this goes a bit too far. But, much of the following still rings with truth, in my opinion -- at least enough to call it to your attention -- DN
