JULY 4!!! Help Light Pittsburg's Skies & Hearts ($2 from each of us would do it!)

Posted:  30 Apr 13

Yet, it's not reasonable to expect that 60,000 or so Pittsburgers will ALL be able or willing to contribute $2.00.  Many won't even hear what is being attempted.  So, please maximize your contributions on behalf of those who would have chipped in, if only they could or would have... and please help make this effort known to friends and neighbors.

65 Days and Counting!

In just over 2 months, the sun will set on a very special day of joyous celebration and "down time."  A renewed spirit of "love of country" will again permeate the land, as most eyes look upward to see what countless eyes have been seeing and loving for the last 237 years.  Brand new little patriots will be created and older ones will be reminded of what must never be forgotten or taken for granted...

If, and only if...

1.  THE SAD SCENARIO -- to be shunned

  • The skies will darken --- illegal fireworks will probably arc, here and there -- selfishly -- over homes and dry grass -- to threaten the innocent with fires and explosions and worry.
  • Concerned residents will, no doubt, be calling overworked police and fire departments for relief.
  • Children (and others) will be hurt or find themselves in trouble.
  • Some dreams will be crushed -- ruined.
  • And a day that should be a glorious memory, for all, becomes one of lingering remorse, for some.

2.  THE BRIGHT SCENARIO -- to be embraced

  • The skies will darken.
  • Just ending will be a delightful day throughout the community -- complete with a Festival, a parade, full bellies, and happy new memories as countless private celebrations draw to a close.
  • In the cool of the evening, all eyes in the community, together, will eagerly turn upward to witness the mastery of experts, whose life's work is the painting of skies with fiery works of art and the thrilling of the willing.
  • At that moment, to an orbiting satellite, much of the land will appear to be twinkling in bright colors of celebration.
  • Don't let Pittsburg be one of the dark spots.  This nation is one of life's greatest gifts, absolutely worthy of such glorious enthusiasm.

3.  THE SIMPLE PATHWAY TO SUCCESS!

Please visit the Old Town Pittsburg website.  It tells you everything you'll need to know to help us heap more honor on this day, AS A COMMUNITY.

What may not be so obvious is the heroic leadership, hard work, and cooperation which are being devoted to this cause.

Special thanks to Adrian Badger, owner of Steeltown Coffee & Tea, who is the driving force behind this effort to insure that the 4th is celebrated as the founders intended.  He is always producing good chain-reactions in and for the community -- and he has a lot more in mind -- and he deserves our grateful support.   Here are two fund-raising events he's executed so far, in this cause:

And, of course, deepest thanks to the many others who are also doing what they can.  And thanks for the extra help which is sure to pour out from our hearts... in the little time remaining.

4.  In the words of Founding Father, John Adams

"[July 4th] will be the most memorable Epocha, in the History of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival.

It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty.

It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more.  [...er.. easy on the guns and other harbingers of destruction]

You will think me transported with Enthusiasm but I am not. I am well aware of the Toil and Blood and Treasure, that it will cost Us to maintain this Declaration, and support and defend these States.

Yet through all the Gloom I can see the Rays of ravishing Light and Glory.

I can see that the End is more than worth all the Means.

And that Posterity will tryumph in that Days Transaction ..."

HERE'S TO A SAFE NATIONAL BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION THAT FULLY HONORS THE OCCASION
