Old Town Pittsburg Business District Association (OTPBDA) Unveils New Website For One-Stop Information About Pittsburg's Old Town District.

Pittsburg, CA - October 18, 2011.
- A mere three months after being formed, the new Old Town Pittsburg Business District Association has unveiled a stylish, new website. The new site, designed to offer visitors an enticing peek into historic Old Town, includes complete information about shopping, visiting and doing business in Pittsburg's historic waterfront district.

"Our new slogan for the district is 'Everything Old is New Again', and that is really representative of what's been happening in Old Town for the past several years," says Adrian Badger, owner of Steeltown Coffee & Tea, and representative of the OTPBDA. "The new website reflects the historic feel of the district, while highlighting all the exciting, new aspects of Old Town that most people in the area are not aware of yet", adds Badger.

The new business association worked closely with the City of Pittsburg and the Pittsburg Arts and Community Foundation while designing the new website. "The business association approached us about creating a new website that focuses on the businesses in Old Town", says Marc Fox, Assistant Pittsburg City Manager. "It has developed into a terrific resource for people to learn about all that's great in Old Town", Fox added.

"The website is a constantly evolving entity", states Badger. "One of our goals is to assure that all the businesses in Old Town are represented on the site, regardless of whether or not they have a physical storefront. This will assure that everyone knows just how much Old Town Pittsburg has to offer. The site will also be the hub for information about year-round special events and promotions in our district. It's a one-stop information center", claims Badger.

The new website can be found at http://www.oldtownpittsburgca.com

City of Pittsburg: Nationwide Emergency Alert System Test

Nationwide Emergency Alert System Test
Posted Date: 10/31/2011

FEMA, in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), will conduct the first nationwide Emergency Alert System (EAS) Test on November 9, at 11:00 a.m. Pacific time.

The Test may look like regular, local EAS tests that most people are already familiar with, but there will be some differences in what viewers will see and hear. The audio message will repeat "This is a test." The video message scroll may not indicate "This is a test." The message will last for approximately three and a half minutes and then regular programming will resume.

The purpose of the Test is to assess the readiness and effectiveness of the EAS and identify incremental improvements to better serve our communities in the preservation of life and property. Although the EAS is frequently used by State and local governments to send weather alerts and other emergencies, there has never been a national activation of the system.

This event also serves as a reminder that everyone should establish an emergency preparedness kit and emergency plan for themselves, their families, communities, and businesses.

For more information about the National EAS test, visit: http://www.fema.gov/emergency/ipaws/eas_info.shtm
