The Pittsburg Police Department and state, county and city officials on Thursday dedicated the Harbor Street overpass over Highway 4 to Officer Larry Lasater, who was shot and killed while trying to catch two robbery suspects in 2005.
State Sen. Mark DeSaulnier, D-Concord, sponsored the legislation for the dedication. Lasater, who was 35 when he was killed, was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps before joining the police department, said Pittsburg police Lt. Brian Addington.
"He was an outstanding police officer and represented everything the police department stands for," Addington said.
