Eucalyptus Trees on Railroad Avenue

Eucalyptus Trees on Railroad Avenue
Posted Date: 4/18/2011

Beginning April 18th, diseased eucalyptus trees at the intersection of Railroad Avenue and Civic Avenue are being removed. This intersection has approximately fourteen eucalyptus trees, eight of which are diseased and being removed according to the private property owner. The trees are on private property, and not located within City Park.

The private property owner reports that the trees are being donated to science. An on-site scientist will be experimenting with a new machine that x-rays a tree to determine internal decay. Following the diseased trees removal, they will be examined to gauge the accuracy of the x-ray technology, with the hope that the technology will help save other trees in the future.

Pruning of the remaining trees, to help ensure their continued long life, will also take place.
